Airlie Beach Running Festival

The 7th annual Airlie Beach Running Festival will be held on Sunday the 21nd of July 2019.

 

The Airlie Beach Running Festival 2018 was recognised by Athletics North Queensland as the event of the year.

 

This year’s courses will be very similar to last year with minor adjustments at the beginning and turn around points.  The unique four lap off road (run on concrete footpaths and boardwalks) standard marathon will be offered again with the opportunity for your support team to cheer you on several times at one location. It will again be the North Queensland Championships Marathon.

 

Added to the program this year is the opportunity to enter a 3 person relay team in the 21.1 km event and a corporate team (maximum of 10) in the 5 km event.

The ZACH MACH is an Adventure Race that celebrates the life of an outstanding young man, Zach Roberts. Zach was an adventure racer and a much loved student at Mackay Christian College who tragically passed away in an accident at the age of 18.

SunSmart IRONMAN 70.3 Busselton is one of the largest events of its type in Australia and the Asia Pacific region. Many spectators line the foreshore of Busselton to cheer on the athletes over the 1.9km swim in the pristine waters of Geographe Bay, 90.1km flat and fast bike leg thru the Tuart Forest and a 21.1km run along the foreshore of Busselton.  

Busselton itself offers an endless amount of activities, from shopping to surfing to whale watching - there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Busselton Town Center is home to a variety of restaurants, wine bars and local pubs that all offer a unique dining experience. You can enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner overlooking the picturesque Geographe Bay from many of the restaurants in the Town Center. There are endless amounts of water activities such as the Underwater Observatory, HMAS Swan Dive Wreck, scuba diving and the Nautical Lady Entertainment Park. While visiting, head to the Ludlow Tuart Forest, which is the last tuart forest in the world!

TreX National Australian Championships

The TreX Championships is hosted in Landsborough in the heart of Queensland’s Naturally Refreshing Sunshine Coast.  Based on the banks of spectacular Ewen Maddock dam this course offers the very best of the Sunshine Coast hinterland with its rainforest trails and fern-filled bushland.

The course includes some of the best fast and flowing single track mountain bike trails, and gritty off road running trails found anywhere in Australia and includes a standard distance, sprint, junior, dirt kids, duathlon and aquabike courses.

Add to this a MultiSport Weekend including the Sunshine Coast MTB Festival and you’ve got a ‘not to be missed’ action packed weekend of off road adventure for the entire family.

The TreX Back2Back sees the revival of the ever popular Back 2 Back format with 2 days of Back 2 Back Racing.  All competitors (except for Dirt Kids) race on Saturday and Sunday and results are determined by the cumulative times across two days.

The event is hosted at Karingal Scout camp, just 40 mins south of Brisbane offering some of the best mountain biking and trail running in south east Queensland.

This event is non-competitive/novelty. The swim will be in the lower level lagoon in waist deep water so kids can choose to swim and run or swim, ride the Blue Water Trail and run. . If your kids would like to participate please complete a race registration online.

Registration is at 7.30am with the Mini Kids kicking off at 8.00am.

In February the Snowy Mountains will come alive with more off road action.   Located in the heart of Australia’s High County, and starting at an altitude of 1100m with Australia’s highest peak, Mt Kosciusko as the backdrop, the course is set to delight and challenge athletes of all levels.

TreX XTri: The XTri is the Australian National Championships.  Home of the 2016 ITU World Champs this course includes some of the best fast and flowing single track mountain bike trails, and gritty off road running trails found anywhere in Australia and includes a standard distance, sprint, junior, dirt kids, duathlon and aquabike courses.

Snowies Ultra Trail Run: This ultimate trail running festival takes in some of the most spectacular running trails in Australia including the 50k Ultra which includes a 530m ascent and descent along the spectacular Thredbo Valley.  The 50k Ultra is also accompanied by the Half Marathon, 12k & 5k trail runs as well as a FREE Kids Mud Rats run.

The 2018 Mackay Triathlon Festival will be held on Saturday 22nd and Sunday 23rd September in and around the beautiful destination of Mackay Harbour.

Participants can choose between:

– BOQ Mackay City Corporate Teams Triathlon – Non Corporate, Corporate and Junior Categories (400m swim, 13km cycle and 3.5km run) – 12 years+ TEAM EVENT ONLY – each person completes a discipline
– Mini Kids (100m swim, 3km cycle and 500m run) – 7 – 12 years

Sunday:
– Olympic Distance (1500m swim, 40km cycle and 10km run) – 15 years+
– Sprint Triathlon (750m swim, 16km cycle and 5km run) – 14 years+
– Enticer Triathlon (300m swim, 8km cycle and 2km run) – 12 years+
*All events on Sunday can be as a team of 2 or 3 people!

Mackay Mountain Marathon Mountain Bike and Trail Running Festival!

Mountain Bike

  • 15km Recreational Course – designed for those wanting to participate in a mountain bike event for the first time and younger riders (14 or older - all riders under 14 wishing to participate must have an approval letter from either their MTB club or a MTBA coach)
  • 38km Sport Course – designed to challenge those who are familiar with the sport. (open to riders 15 or older, all riders under 15 wishing to participate must have an approval letter from either their MTB club or a MTBA coach)
  • 80km Marathon Course – competitive course with prize money up for grabs as well as the prestigious “Platypus Trophy” (18+).

 

Trail Run

  • 5km Family fun run/walk – designed to encourage everyone to get back to nature and experience the tropical rainforest without having to venture too far.
  • 15km Recreational Course – for anyone keen to experience the joy of trail running. This course is a good entry level trail run or a great hit out for anyone keen to push themselves for a fast time.
  • 38km Platypus Trophy Marathon Course – designed to challenge the more experienced runners who are familiar with trail running and want to tackle a more technical course.

The courses consist of a combination of fire trails, bitumen roads, winding single track, creek crossings and amazing views of the pioneer valley. The conditions along the courses will vary from lush rainforest to arid bushland so you should be prepared for all conditions.
