Mackay's Kids Triathlon Summer Tri-Series Promotes Active Fun for Young Athletes

The Mackay Isaac Region is gearing up for a summer of active and exciting fun for kids aged 5 to 12 as the highly anticipated Kids Triathlon Summer Tri-Series returns to the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC).

This three-part series, now in its sixth year, is designed to encourage young participants to get active, build confidence, and have a great time while engaging in healthy competition.

In a region known for its numerous triathlons catering to adults and youths, the Kids Triathlon Summer Tri-Series stands out as an exceptional opportunity for children aged 12 and under. Unlike competitive events, this series focuses on participation and the satisfaction of completing each challenge rather than winning.

Tri-ActiV8 Director, Nikki Giles, the organisation behind the series, expressed her excitement, saying, "We are thrilled to be running the Kids Triathlon Summer Tri-Series for the sixth year running. Our goal is to provide an inclusive and non-competitive environment where young athletes can thrive, build self-confidence, and, most importantly, have a fantastic time while staying active."

Kids do not need to have participated in triathlons previously to be a part of the series, says Ms Giles.

“Thanks to the ongoing support of local business sponsoring the Tri-Series we are able to keep the entry price for the event low to help families in what is a difficult financial time for many.”

The series includes three events on consecutive Sundays:  26 November, 3 and 10 December. There is the option of participating in a triathlon and for kids who do not have access to a bike there is the Aquathlon option (swim and run only).

Distances for swimming, riding, and running vary according to the age group, ensuring that the challenges are both engaging and attainable for all kids, regardless of their fitness levels or abilities. Importantly, all participants must be able to swim their designated age group distance unassisted in the pool.

The series isn't just about the summer months; it's part of Tri-ActiV8's commitment to children's well-being and encourages kids to stay active year-round. Tri-ActiV8 organises a variety of kids-based triathlons and adventure events throughout the year, offering ongoing opportunities for children to explore their athletic potential.

To make the series even more exciting, kids who participate in two or more of the Tri-Series dates will have a chance to win a brand new bike from Corry Cycles, making this event even more unforgettable and rewarding for young athletes.

Mackay's Kids Triathlon Summer Tri-Series is a testament to the community's dedication to nurturing active, confident, and healthy children. It provides a fantastic platform for young athletes to experience the thrill of a triathlon in a supportive and non-competitive atmosphere.

Don't miss out on this amazing opportunity for your children to embrace the joys of physical activity, camaraderie, and self-confidence. For more information and registration details, visit https://www.tri-activ8.com.au.
