It’s time for our Mackay kids to Tri

This Sunday 13 November 2022 at the Mackay Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC) more than 50 kids will hit their stride in the pool, on the bike and on the track as they complete the first event in the 3-part Tri-ActiV8 Kids Triathlon Tri-Series.

“The Tri-ActiV8 Tribe loves delivering this annual event for the Mackay community” says Tri-ActiV8 Director Nikki Giles.

Tri-ActiV8 started the 3-part Kids Triathlon Tri-Series back in 2018 with the aim of giving Mackay kids an opportunity to try the sport of triathlon in a safe non-competitive environment. The entire event is held within the safety and confines of the MARC.

“Our Tri-ActiV8 tribe of volunteers will be out there on course supporting and cheering every child” says Nikki

“We want the kids to have fun and to have that feeling of self-achievement”

The event offers distances to suit kids aged 5 to 12 years.

Parents can choose the following distances for their kids:

Kids Aquathon

  • 5-6 Years - 25m Swim / 500m Run

  • 7-9 Years - 50m Swim / 1km Run

  • 10-12 Years - 100m Swim / 1.5km Run

Kids Triathlon

  • 7-9 Years - 50m Swim / 3.2km Cycle / 1km Run

  • 10-12 Years - 100m Swim / 4.3km Cycle / 1.5km Run

Uniteability Triathlon

  • Individual requirements of the participants

  • Buddy

Kids don’t need to be fast in the pool, on their bike or on the track, they are not being timed, they are instead being cheered and encouraged by everyone around them.

Cost is only $11.95, every participant will receive a Tri-Series event t-shirt. Every child who completes 2 or more of the 3 event dates will go in the draw to win a new Bike courtesy of Corry Cycles and a new Dirty Possum 4-bike car carrier.

The first event of the Tri-Series kicks off at 7.15am this Sunday 13 November at MARC. The final 2 event dates for the 2022 series are 27 November and 12 December.
